Course Overview


This course provides competence - based training and assessment for electrical and instrumental personnel working in hazardous areas. Practical "Hands-On" Training and assessment takes Place in a realistic simulated environment, Giving attendees a comprehensive learning experience which is directly related to industry setting.

Course Content


In order to provide the highest quality training experience, this course will consist of the following :
Instructor Led Presentation - The core elements of skill will be presented & demonstrated in a classroom environment.
  • Explosion Principles, Gas Properties and Hazards
  • Standards, Certification and Marking
  • Protection & Installation Techniques for EX,d,e,n,i,o,m,q & p equipment
  • Combined (Hybrid) types of protection
  • Wiring Systems, Enclosure Entries, Cable Gland Selection and Installation
  • Inspection and Maintenance of equipment to IEC 60079 - 17 Standards
  • Sources of Ignition
  • Hands - On Installation & Inspection

Practical Assessments

Lab Exercises Practical Demonstrations of Skills will be accomplished by the student


EX01 - 3.35 Hours
  • Hands - On Installation & Inspection , Electrical Glanding and Termination
  • Demonstrate ability to select appropriate cable glands for EX d, Ex e, Ex n Applications
  • Complete a partial installation of Ex d, Ex e, & Ex n Equipments
  • Ex02 - 1.15 Hours
  • Hands - On Installation & Inspection , Electrical Glanding and Termination
  • Demonstrate ability to select appropriate cable glands for EX d, Ex e, Ex n Applications
  • Complete a partial installation of Ex d, Ex e, & Ex n Equipments
  • Ex03 - 3 Hours
  • Hands - On Installation & Inspection , Electrical Glanding and Termination
  • Demonstrate ability to select appropriate cable glands for EX d, Ex e, Ex n Applications
  • Complete a partial installation of Ex d, Ex e, & Ex n Equipments
  • Ex04 - 1.15 Hours
  • Hands - On Installation & Inspection , Electrical Glanding and Termination
  • Demonstrate ability to select appropriate cable glands for EX d, Ex e, Ex n Applications
  • Complete a partial installation of Ex d, Ex e, & Ex n Equipments
  • Final Exam

  • The Final Exam will Administered via an Online Service
  • Multiple Choice Exam comprising of 60 Questions. Allocated time of 90 ( If English is First Language, if not - 105 Minutes)
